This handsome gentleman is getting married in 2 days. Most mother’s would ask “where does time go”. But, not this one. I know where the time went. Bryan is our son and we were blessed to be loaned a certain amount of time, which we spent with him on a thing called life. Bryan grew up, like most kids, through some very good times and some not so good. Had the typical growing pains of adolescence, the ups and downs of teenage years and then one fateful day, while he was away at college, he decided to leave a note on a pretty girl’s car. She (with her friends in tow) called him back and here we are today.
Memories are the receipts for the things you spent your life on. While looking over the receipts for the time spent with Bryan, I can say, without a doubt that it was time well spent. Now it is time for Bryan to spend most of his life with others. I hope he will give us a glimpse of the receipts from time to time. Congratulations Bryan and Sara, we love you both.

Technically, she has been dyed. Originally, I knit this stole in Dye Your Own Lace Weight Yarn from Knitpicks. I wore it in the natural color for a while and decided that the color was too beige for my skin tone. So, since my son is getting married in 10 days and the colors in the wedding are cream and chocolate, I decided to dye it a chocolate brown. The hardest part of this entire process was lowering it into the dye pot. Here are the results.

I finally got a video done on chart reading. It has taken so long and it is not the most “hollywood” production, but I hope it gets the idea across on how to read a knitting chart.
If you are interested you can see the video on the Knitwith.us website. This is the first of several that I hope to do. Enjoy and leave me a comment, please be gentle…HAHA…

This is the day I have been working toward. All this lace knitting that I have not been able to share with you is finally complete and will be revealed within the next two months. The Secret of the Stole III KAL group is now open for new members and now the work really begins. I really love this part though, because it keeps me very busy and invariably learning new things.
If you would like to join the group click on the image and sign up. See you there…

At least that is what I determined after my dismal shopping trip to find fabric this past Saturday. We live in LA (aka lower Alabama) on the Georgia border, just across from Columbus. The only stores that carry fabric in our town, Auburn, are Hobby Lobby, Wal-mart, and a little sewing machine sales company. So, I decided this Saturday to spend the extra gas $$ and make the 30 minute drive into Columbus to visit the Hancock Fabrics I had been to many times before.
When I arrived I found that the sign was still there, but the store was not. Annoying to say the least, but since I was there and had paid to get there, I decided to visit their quilting shop and look at the fabric there. Guess what, it was not there anymore either! I went to the Hobby Lobby, in Columbus, and scored a whopping 2 yards of cotton fabric that was acceptable. Then it was off to the new SUPER DUPER, HUGE, MONDO, NEW Wal-mart, where I was sure I would find something that would work…
WRONG!!! This new-fangled store didn’t even have a fabric department!! AHHHHH!! Needless to say, but I am going to say it anyway, I was seriously bummed! The only thing that made the trip worth it was that the Wal-mart did have the mini chocolate fried pies that our Wal-mart is out of. I bought all 5 boxes that they had on the shelf.
Since there are no national fabric stores that think that the lower region of Alabama/Georgia are viable markets, does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t have a problem buying yarn online, but fabric is different. Fabric is something you have to feel and drape. Wal-mart is not my first choice for fabric, but it appears that because of where I live it is one of the two only choices I have.
Thanks for letting me vent. I think I will go back to my knitting now….

Look what I made! Not the knitted Mohair cuff. Although, I did make that too. The cuff is from the book Lace Style that was gifted to me recently for my birthday. It is made to be worn underneath a sport coat for a little extra femininity and flair. I was about to bind off this cuff and start on the other one when I realized that I hadn’t shown you what I made recently. These frog double point needle protectors are fabulous and cute, too. They were so much fun to make and so easy too. What do you think?
